Unless you missed it you know that IBM has announced that no further
updates will apply to even the very latest CR9 X86 based HMCs. This will
be a hard stop not just a 'not supported' situation, the updates WILL
NOT LOAD.
Significant discussion was had at POWERUp18 about this with IBM team
present and to a person they are all AGAINST this happening so soon. We
all get it, stop selling new X86 based HMCs that's a no brainer but to
drop support and FORCE customers to move to replacement hardware when
they still have active warranty and lease on the hardware is a very bad
plan.
Hilariously in the business justification I said "Don't piss off your
customer base. It's bad business." They replaced 'piss' with
'[Deleted]'. Sensitive software there apparently. :-)
