I agree. I've done several. Yep, main production machine midday. If it
says concurrent it means it. Some may say concurrent but you won't get
feature x until you reboot the firmware. Most of the time my rebooting is
to update the status to IPL or to move it from temp to perm. Since I have
a quarterly outage I take advantage of it. But the firmware usually has
already been applied.
Now some firmware upgrades are disruptive. Certain version upgrades and
that genre. But most are definitely not. Well, I guess if you only
upgrade firmware once every 3 years and there's been a new version out in
that time your experiences may differ.
