Are you querying the "source" or "target" system? In an HA environment
typically one system is the source. This would be your production system.
And the target system would be the backup. During the switch their roles
are swapped.

People are often encouraged to consider querying their target system. This
allows them to get more value out of the backup system and offloads query
cycles from the production system.

Way back on V4R2 IBM came up with remote journals. This article helps to
explain Active and Inactive:
https://www.mcpressonline.com/it-infrastructure/it-infrastructure-other/the-remote-journal-function

Trying to turn on/off this inactive flag outside of the HA software should
only be done with careful consideration and put into the switch plans,
etc.

I know that HA software will also 'disable' triggers on target systems.
For example, if I have a trigger on my order file which automatically
faxes out information upon a write I do not want a fax sent out from my
target system also when the write occurs there.
