When you add an adapter to a partition through the Enhanced UI you will select the VIOS partition and the fcs port. That will add it to the VIOS partition.

Subject: HMC Enhanced GUI - Dynamically adding virtual adapters to running VIOS?

The e-mail below is from an external source. Please do not open attachments or click links from an unknown or suspicious origin.

When using the "New and Improved" HMC Enhanced GUI how do you dynamically add virtual adapters to a running VIOS? This is on a new CR1 running v8.8.7 sp1.

We do this all the time on Classic GUI to add a new LPAR on an existing system. We would dynamically add the virtual adapters (vSCSI, vFiber) on the VIOS and then save current config to update the profile. Then build the new LPAR profile and boom we had a new LPAR running. I see how to dynamically add virtual adapters to a partition, but not the VIOS.

Thanks
Steve
