And I specifically was referring to USB sticks, which I use all the time
now.

Jim, He's talking about the USB DVD Drive, not an RDX dock, but yes, DVD
drives are external now or just use the USB stick for install (in the rare
case where IBM i is the only LPAR, I've been using USB to install VIOS for
the last couple of years).

Yes, exactly that. Doesn't appear to be anything special about it.
Model GP70N from Hitachi-LG Portable DVD drive. Complete with an IBM
Power Systems sticker on it!
