The POWER9 announcement presentations I have from IBM show the 5887 as supported for migrations at GA2. No date for GA2 though. I looked at the sales manual and the 5887 is NOT listed on the POWER9 servers, so I would assume no current support on POWER9.

FYI, the 5887's have been withdrawn from marketing for all systems effective 3/31/18. The replacement is the ESLS, which requires min v7r2.

I wonder if it was an issue with our 57CE?

5887 is listed as supported on GA1 per IBM PowerPoint. Item 46 page 57.
