It was an ex-IBM guy in Seattle who turned down a transfer to Rochester and
went to work on Windows NT who solved the drive mapping issue back in 1995.
He sent me the code in exchange for a case of Mrs. Fields cookies. Mrs.
Fields was an AS/400 shop.
I sent that diskette to the developer in Rochester. Don't recall his name,
but I remember he had a British accent. After he promised to get the code
into the next release, I took a whole box of his diskettes to the COMMON
conference that spring. There was a session about that connectivity. Those
diskettes disappeared quickly.
