I think part of my concern about how often to back up is just how one does
a restore on such a device.
From what VERY little I know this Evault uses it's own software to do
save/restores and not IBM i save/restore, nor BRMS save/restore
operations.
How does one do a 'bare metal' restore? Does that require that one always
fall back to IBM distribution media to boot and install OS and PTF's? Or
do you do a traditional save outside of Evault? With BRMS I've done 'bare
metal' system reloads from Power 6's to Power 8's. And this was using the
EMC Data Domain VTL and no physical media.
Stuff like this may affect your decisions about frequency and types of
backups.
