Re: Procedure Binding in CL

Before I start jumping through hoops trying to see if I can get
this to work, I thought I'd ask to see if anybody already has some answers
off the top of their head...

My understanding is that CL/ILE creates a single-procedure with
the same name as the CL program -- or something to that effect. RPG/ILE
can CALLP such a procedure if given a prototype that describes it. In my
case, I want to CALLPRC such a CL procedure from another CL/ILE program.
The reason is that I need to use the *OMIT keyword to omit some parameters
in the middle of the parameter list (the target CL procedure is already
written to support this and works fine when called from RPG via the
prototype I mentioned).

My first attempt at doing this failed (CPD5D02 Definition not
found for symbol). Of course, CL/ILE can't be told that the procedure is
an external program the way that an RPG prototype can (using the EXTPGM
keyword). So, it seems that CALLPRC will only work in the presence of a
binding directory pointing to either a service program or a module. Is
all of this correct? ...or is there something I am missing? Thanks.
