I think you have a pretty good grasp on all the stuff you'd have to fix.
Some suggestions.
Backup and recovery: Restoring your system to a different machine. Covers
a few key things, like if you restore this one thing the end machine is a
pile of scrap metal.

Make sure that your CBU machine, and all it's cards and expansion units,
are compatible with 7.3. It wasn't the machine, it was the cards and
expansion units which had us swap out our P6 for P8 before one OS upgrade.
