We're quoting replacing two P8-8286-41A's and one P8-8286-42A.
The painful part is the interactive tax. That does not transfer from the
P8's. On the bright side whomever buys our P8's gets our old interactive
license. We're hoping this increases their value.

We're probably keeping all the disk except for the CEC disks solely for
the vios lpars.
What we're hearing, and we're really having a tough time believing it and
are requesting confirmation, is that if we swap out our P8 CEC's for P9
CEC's we can get 3 years warranty on our existing SSD's. That is a HUGE
thing. We just replaced our SSD's solely because of maintenance costs,
but kept the old ones in their old expansion units for a secondary basic
user ASP, and self maintain them.

Hello everyone

I'm told that CPW data for P9 was just released

I'm considering replacing a 8286 41A P8 machine with a comparable P9
(S914)
one.

What performance gain can be expected ?
assuming all other factors (No. of cores, main storage, DASD etc.) are
about the same.

TIA
