The parameter should contain a Y or an N nothing complicated.

Re: Command Parameter Question
That is going to be tough -- because it can be either numeric or
character depending upon what is passed.

*X
(For IBM-supplied commands) The parameter value is a
character string, variable name, or numeric value.
The value is passed as a numeric value if it contains
only digits, a + or - sign, or a decimal point;
otherwise, it is passed as a character string.

It was a part of the DSPPGMMSG command from epi-software - keeps
giving me pointer errors.

Guessing, but perhaps for an *X parameter type, the actual data is
not sent as a parameter but, instead, an address to a data structure in
memory is sent so that the data structure can be examined to determine the
type and format of the data sent in the structure. You run the CL through
the debugger to see what is being passed for that parameter. That will
give you a hint how you need to handle it. Otherwise, since you say you
have the source, you could just change the CMD source to use *CHAR instead
of *X.

Dave Clark
