We are at 7.2. I have a table with an identity key which is
generated always, a foreign key constraint, and a row change timestamp
with is generated always. Why does SQL require an exclusive lock on the
foreign table when I'm trying to alter the identity key to generated by
default? Aaarrrggghhh!!!

SQL State: 88W00
Vendor Code: -438
Message: [SQL0438] Alter of LIFO Identity to "default" failed. State=57033

CPF3203: Cannot allocate object for file IMLFDTLT in DTA007.

Cause . . . . . : The requested operation was not performed for member
*N file IMLFDTLT in library DTA007, because member *N file IM02T in
library *N type *FILE was not available. Recovery . . . : Ensure the
object is not locked in another process or in another thread within this
process. Also, ensure the object, or a logical file based on the object,
is not open in this process. Try the request again when the object is
available.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
