I recalled reading somewhere that IBM changed this behavior in IBM i, perhaps with IBM i 6.1 ... Anyway, it no longer prevents you from signing on, if a library named in the *JOBD is no longer available -- an Information message CPI146B is added to the job log telling you the name(s) of the missing libraries..

I just signed-on to V7R1 and ran a test to confirm this behavior.

I also went back to a V5R4 system to confirm that on i5/OS V5R4 -- it issues CPF1113 and prevents you from signing on.
