Based on the values above you might have to MD '/QNTC/MYWORKSTATION'
before you can see it. The reason many turn this on is that if you set it
back to where it shows them all it can be excruciatingly slow. Gee, let's
go query the network for all workstations, and query them for their
shares...

There were also issues where, even if you were trying to access a share
with a short name, such as '/qntc/myworkstation/myshare' it may, or may
not, work if there was another share with a really long name on that
server such as
'/qntc/myworkstation/AllAccountingFilesDealingWithTheManhattanProject'. It
didn't matter if you were trying to access that. Simply the existence of
it caused you issues. I "believe" this has been resolved with newer
versions of the OS and whatnot. However this issue used to affect those
on z-series along with us.
We had a guy in accounting who used to create long share names all the
time. I swear this <expletive deleted> used to try to find limitations in
any software package (IBM i and otherwise) we used and exploit them.
