I've been following this thread.
We have the same issues here, and have moved 75% to GUI.
Our 3rd party application offered the GUI solution via Rocket's software Jwalk, now Legasuite.
The GUI definitely has advantages for new users, easier to learn.
Other advantage is no PC setup and/or maintenance, install and updates are automatic via ActiveX client.
Rocket support is good, product is good, but it does have some issues.
It uses a developer to create the panels, separate from the runtime.
The developer version must coincide with the runtime version.
Our 3rd party vendor is behind on getting all the panels (tens of thousands) updated with the current developer.
Thus we must stay on an old version runtime.
However, there are 25% old school user who still want green screen.
Some run both.
One big advantage to green screen is the Robot Replay capability.
We just finished totally automating daily, weekly, and end month processes via Robot Replay and Robot Schedule.
This can only be done via green screen, Replay will not work with a GUI.

Subject: Moving from Green screen app to GUI because of push back from younger employees?
I had a request to update our interface from a green screen application to a 'more modern GUI' because of an inability to keep new employees because of the look/feel of the green screen apps and the ability to more easily train them if the look/feel was something they were more familiar with.
I'm just curious if others have run into this as a reason to 'modernize'
their applications.
Thanks,
Ken Meade
