Thanks guys for the suggestions and amusing comments...Definitely nothing leading (or bleeding) edge!

Doug- I am busy prying off the keys on the keyboard to search for anything suspicious. Mostly dust bunnies.... will let you know if that goes anywhere....

James - I personally don’t have a regular manual, it’s a pocket sized insert that is stored away in a little compartment in the base under the screen. I’m thinking I need a ‘factory reset’ as it does seem like a config issue

BELIEVE (memory here) you need *ALLOBJ and *SECADM.

About 2 decades ago we got rid of the last of our twinax.
Gave them away to the first person to show up. Apparently
this guy now has a lifetime supply of system consoles.

Hey! I resemble that guy because I took 2 of those 3196's from you. But
we haven't had a twinax device in at least 12+ years. So don't insult me.
:)

Besides, not everyone can be on the "cutting edge" all the time.

Perhaps you can find some hoarder somewhere. Sometimes your local user
group can help.

I too have not used a 3196 terminal in a long time. However, I remember
having that experience. I found it to be either a paper clip or a piece of
a staple wedged inside the keyboard under the key cap that was causing
the weirdness [metal on metal]. Once I saw that and removed it, all was
well.

Hope this helps.

We don't have anything older than a 3477 here. But we might have a
manual for a 3196.

Apart from authorities issues that you may have , if your local certificate
authority already exists in the default *SYSTEM store , you wont see an
option to create a certificate authority.
