MS released an update (for Win10 only) to fix the Change Notify bug, but

I thought there were some updates which no longer made this necessary.
Granted you have to get your Windows machines up to snuff. But I don't
think it's a "hack the registry" issue any more.

But, from the 30,000' level, SMB (vs SMB2) was prone to hacks.
