Hmmm,

Yes I see.

When I do a CHGAUT OBJ('/SampleDirectory') AUTL(MYAUTL) SUBTREE(*ALL) the
authorization list is there on directory level.
But indeed, when I create a file via edtf that authorization list is not
inherited.

Strange....

Object . . . . . . . . . . . . : /SampleDirectory
Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : DIR
Owner . . . . . . . . . . . . : SIMONSEA
Primary group . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Authorization list . . . . . . : MYAUTL

Data --Object Authorities--
User Authority Exist Mgt Alter Ref
*PUBLIC *AUTL
SIMONSEA *RWX X X X X

Object . . . . . . . . . . . . : /SampleDirectory/deleteme2.txt
Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : STMF
Owner . . . . . . . . . . . . : SIMONSEA
Primary group . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Authorization list . . . . . . : *NONE

Data --Object Authorities--
User Authority Exist Mgt Alter Ref
*PUBLIC *RW
SIMONSEA *RW X X X X

No it wouldn't.

CRTDIR DIR('/SampleDirectory') DTAAUT(GDIDIVF) OBJAUT(*NONE)
Directory created.
edtf '/SampleDirectory/deleteme.txt'
dspaut '/SampleDirectory/deleteme.txt'
Object . . . . . . . . . . . . : /SampleDirectory/deleteme.txt
Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : STMF
Owner . . . . . . . . . . . . : ROB
Primary group . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Authorization list . . . . . . : *NONE

Data --Object Authorities--
User Authority Exist Mgt Alter Ref
*PUBLIC *RW
ROB *RW X X X X

Notice, no authorization list is supplied to that particular object?
Notice also that if TOM tries to delete deleteme.txt he cannot because
*PUBLIC does not have object existence authority? Even though TOM is in
that authorization list?

There are some commands with a hack in them to help with this crippling
limitation. For example
the CPY command as the AUT(*INDIR) parameter
CPY OBJ('/fromdir/fromfile') TOOBJ('/todir/tofile') AUT(*INDIR)

Hi Rob,

CRTDIR DIR('/SampleDirectory') DTAAUT(MYAUTL) OBJAUT(*NONE) would do that.

When you set up security on a library you can do
CHGLIB LIB(MYLIB) CRTAUT(MYAUTL)
So that all new objects created in that library have the authority in
that
authorization list.

Is there some way to do this with an IFS directory?
Basically I want all new files, directories, subdirectories thereof,
etc,
created in the '/SampleDirectory' to have the authority of authorization
list MYAUTL.
