Not dead at all! But Ruby is a different animal from something like PHP
or even Node where you get to recycle your skills in JavaScript. There
is much to love in Ruby and much its functional appeal has been co-opted
in other projects. But it is an acquired taste, especially if you are
coming from RPG alone.
Great language once you get to know it but the learning curve can be
lengthy if you haven't already been exposed to the object oriented world.
