I need to setup Email Notification for replication issues/failures.

We're replicating
from IBM I V7R1
to Windows Server 2012 R2 running Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
using IBM InfoShere Data Replication 11.4 CDC.

I found a link for setting up the notifications.

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSTRGZ_10.2.1/com.ibm.cdcdoc.mcadminguide.doc/concepts/settingUpNotifications.html

For the source data store, each type of notification must be set up, pointing to a messageq. I would then need to monitor the messageq to send emails. I could use our Halcyon product for this.
For the target data store, each type of notification must be set up, pointing to a SMTP email address.

Quite a huge task.
Has anyone ever done this?
Is there a simpler way to monitor and notify for any replication issues/failures?

Thank You
