Rob:

I've seen that before with QEDD. When doing a SAVSECDTA we always shut down
QEDD. So our back up plans are to on Production: Run SAVCFG, SAVSECDTA, and
a couple of other small saves that are more for application restart than
anything else. With a VTL it's easy, fast and does not take that much
storage.

When we run the backups on the target box we stop QEDD entirely, run the
backup and then bring QEDD back up again. This bothers me since there is
this period of exposure I'm not happy with, but most of the time the risk is
acceptable. On the other hand QEDD does complete replication
resynchronization faster than any of the other products I work with.

With customers that have SAN storage we just use Flashcopy and run the
backup there and be done with it.

I forgot that I need to search for MSGCPF37AA and not CPF37AA.
Did find an old 6.1 hit about IBM fixing that by stopping RSTUSRPRF from
being allowed at the same time as SAVSECDTA.

Hmm, this was on our HA machine. We're now running Quick-EDD on it
(switched from Mimix). I wonder if it was replicating something at the same
time the SAVSECDTA part kicked in...
