I don't believe this is the issue, but in the past, we have had issues
when receiving, importing and processing files from outside systems.
The outside systems were inadvertently placing special characters in the
file (EOF, etc...) and our import processing jobs were
having issues.

Lots of good ideas but in this case the file is only used in one process,
it has not touched by anything else anywhere else on the system. It is a
file we download nightly from a 3rd party as a csv, place in the ifs, use
CPYFRMIMPF to move up to a DB2 work table, then read that work table in
this RPG app to map and post updates to our production DB2 tables. The
time between receiving the file and running the CPYFRMIMPF and calling the
RPG is about 5 minutes. And just before the call to the RPG a CPYF *PRINT
of the DB2 work table shows it has data. We have some other things to try
tonight

No solution to the mystery yet.
OK. Assume that this CL and this RPG program are doing exactly the same
thing at night and during the day. This would mean that there is
something else running at night - after this CL - that is undoing /
deleting / rebuilding the destination file.

What runs in the night schedule /after/ this CLP?

Conversely, is there something extra that runs during the day that is not
being run at night? Maybe even a 'close of business' job that runs hours
after the CLP runs?
