I don't know if this will help, but we have a program that reads excel and writes a DB2 table. Before the program executes the SS_OPEN procedure, it executes the SS_BEGIN_OBJECT_GROUP(10000) procedure.

You may have to increase the size of that parameter, the value for that is retrieved from a control file first. I seems to remember this has something to do with the spreadsheet size, but it has been awhile.
