This is exactly what you want. Existing cable on one side new cable on the other side. I would put it in a box you can get at in case you need to. It's best if you have a 110 punch tool but for a one off like this two small screwdrivers can work. Don't push the screwdriver in the slot the wire goes into though. Instead one on each side so the wire is forced into the slot.
