The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
I think everyone's tolerance on the SAN varies. If you can multipurpose
it with other servers such as Windows, linux, aix that may make a
difference. But if you've already invested in alternative SAN's for those
you have a tougher battle to fight.
Right now we have multiple lpars on our Power 8. We wanted to replace all
disk drives due to they were SSD's and once they get to maintenance you
pay a severe maintenance fee. Like you might as well buy new ones with a
2 month pay back. We were also looking a migrating from Mimix. This
seemed like a dandy time to move to SAN and Power HA.
The SAN infrastructure killed it for us. We already use Simplivity for
vmware. We went out and bought a Power 8 expansion unit, two new disk
expansion units to attach to that, and 30+ SSD's to stick into the
expansion units.
Now multiply that by two for two Power 8's (different cities).
One done, another all racked just waiting for downtime.

We left the old disks in as a secondary user ASP and we'll self maintain
those drives. Hence the crapload of free space.
