As a general response to automating FTP - I heartily recommend Scott Klement's FTP API - a set of procedures for each step in an FTP session - and you get return info for each - so you don't need these overriding scripts, and you get error handling at the point of the activity - no more parsing of output files.

It's on his site - www.scottklement.com

I inherited a number of processes that do this. The output goes to a copy in QTEMP and then gets copied to the permanent PF at job end.

I just added an SQL insert of a record before and after the FTP into the QTEMP file with a formatted message with job info and date/time.

Forward your output to a spooled file and it will have the time on it.

Subject: [EXT] get transaction time from FTP Outfile

All,
Using standard FTP to send a data file and redirecting the output messages to a source file, is there any way to get the time the transmission was sent?

TIA
