Thanks Rob,

That was it. I didn't even notice the authority when creating the share.

There are two permissions which come to mind.
The first one is the authority on the directory and it's contents itself.
If the user can get to it with WRKLNK and it works then that is not your issue.
The second one is if when you created the share if you specified it for read only or not.

We decided that we will try to enforce matching passwords to make this
work.

Now I'm running into another issue,

I have folder secured by an authorization list
If I access this folder via navigator or WDSC7, the authority appears to
work correctly,

However, when I access this folder via the mapped drive, I get a message
"you need permission to perform this action"

I thought it might be a windows permission, but on my desktop I have full
administrative rights, but am running into the same issue.

Any idea what might be going on here?

Thanks

Also, mapped drives do not like mixed case passwords.

You can save yourself a lot of trial and error by selecting "Connect using
different credentials". Then use .\username to avoid it trying to use the
local domain name with the User ID. Also, if your password is a mix of
letters and numbers, enter the letters in upper case. You already seem to
be aware of checking to see if the profile is disabled, which can happen
after even one bad attempt.

Subject: ifs mapped drive issue

I am testing the use of mapped drives to our IFS.

I have set up a shortcut on a Virtual Desktop.

If my network id and ibm I password are the same, I have no issues, If my
network id and ibm I ID are different, I have no issues.

However if my network id and my ibm I password are not the same I cannot
get connected.

I get a 'Windows Security' prompt to enter user id and password but
receive 'Network password is not correct' After a couple attempts at
this my Netserver userid becomes disabled.

If I try to use the network password I get 'Access is denied'.

Any idea what might be going on here.

I've done some searching and found some references to the issue, but no
resolutions.

THanks
