Birgitta,

I'm not sure what kind of training materials that you are looking for. That
is, whether ypu are looking for an audio/CD course like those produced by
Manta Technologies, books, or manuals.

I can recommend a few books. The best one is _Mastering IBM i_ by Jim Buck.
It covers the administration topic and was written by an actual
teacher/instructor, Jim Buck. It, also, have chapters on CL and DDS, though
rather brief, as Jim admits, because of space limitations.

For CL Ernie Malaga's _Complete CL_ is a good reference. Though one should
be careful: Ernie's example for his formatting is the PWRDWNSYS command. I
actually had a newbie key this in and press the Enter key ("I said to read
the book until I got back!"). Greg Veal, also, wrote a good book, which I
no longer have so I don't remember the name.

For DDS I don't know of any reference except the IBM manuals. I have those
in PDF (there are three: PF/LF, Printer, and SDA) that I can send to you,
but these may still be available at the IBM site.

For RPGIII a good reference book is still the one by Bob Cozzi, but I think
it's out of print. I tossed my copy when his RPGIV book come out, and I did
not find it even on Amazon. Bob may still have one (probably as a
doorstop).

All of these were originally published by MCPressOnLine.com.

Subject: Looking for Old Training Material

Hi guys,

I'm looking for old training material for a new trainee, respective

* IBM i/AS400 Basics/Administration
* DDS described files
* CL
* RPGIII

I have only training material for all the new subjects (RPGIV incl. Full
Free, ILE concepts, SQL).

But the company where the trainee works still has a lot of old CLP and
RPGIII programs (incl. RPG Cycle).

Before the application can be modernized, it is necessary that the trainee
can read, understand and fix bugs in the current application programs.

So I?m looking for old training materials the trainee can work through.

Someone still has those old training materials and is willing to share them
with me.

I?d be really happy.

P.S. I don?t want to start a discussion about legacy applications.

IMHO it is important that they understood (may be a little late, but better
late than never!) modernization with fresh blood is necessary.

But the 2 worlds need to understand each other.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards
