I'm very new to midrange systems, but even to me it seems absurd that your
vendor is on V5R4. I recently bought a model 170 from 1999 running V5R3 for
$300... so I'm not sure how your vendor could still be THAT far back.
Especially since it seems like they will create a lot of extra "yak
shaving".

Just my 2 cents!

You can only save to x-2. If you're on 7.2 then that would be 6.1.
Tell your vendor to do one of the following:
- Get a newer system which supports a version of the OS currently
supported by IBM.
- Join IBM's Partners In Development program and timeshare off of their
systems. I know of one vendor doing this.
- Join another timeshare service such as http://iinthecloud.com/
- You're sending the file in a 6.1 savf. If they need it for a release
earlier than that then they need to figure out how to do it. Perhaps with
a sweet heart deal with a customer running an OS that is either not
supported or scheduled to go out of support April 30, 2018.

Somehow they had to get thier software past the 6.1 ANZOBJCVN issue so I'm
sure they can figure this out.

Me, I'd seriously consider changing vendors. I have zero tolerance for
that.

Subject: Creating files for ftp.
Sent by: "MIDRANGE-L" <midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

G'day all,

Have been tasked to copy some files for our ERP vendor so that they can
replicate them on their system.
They want me to create a savf which I have done and send the files in an
earlier version V5R4, we are currently V7R2.
Whats the best way to get the files into the savf.

Haven't done this in so long can't even begin to guess at this.

Thanks in advance.
