We've recently done a couple of memory upgrades. I used the manuals I
suggested earlier. I gave them to someone from the programming staff with
instructions on how to quiesce and power off all lpars of IBM i, AIX, VIOS
and the frame itself. No problem.
One of the upgrades was a rip and replace to upsize the chips (such as our
suggestion here).
It's not rocket science. My benefit is these people are conditioned to
read each and every character of my instructions, while still showing some
initiative. It's people who speed read, blow past a bulk of the
instructions, or get stuck at the first thing and not get the context
later, that get into trouble.
