There is no difference between a user on the local network and a user
coming in via a VPN as far as the operating system cares or knows about.
The user connected from an IP address, and if we have a proper route
back to them, we can respond and send them information. If you can't
tell by the IP address, then you won't be able to tell as far as I know.

From an interactive RPG application, I want to be able to interrogate

a user's

session to determine if they are on the local network, or if they are

VPN to gain access. The users in question have laptops with static IP

are not my decision, and I don't have the authority to change it. I am

looking

for an API or a technique to detect the VPN user.
