Kent:

Either from the GUI (easy) or from the front panel (tedious but OK) you will
have to partition the library. That will create to virtual libraries one
for the right magazine, and one for the left magazine. I strongly suggest
you set up the I/O door and the tape cleaning cartridge as well (takes you
to 11 slots on a side)

At the same time set it to sequential mode and you will get what you've
asked for.

With that configuration you'll have only a tape device for each tape library
(logical) show up in IBM i , and it will be an autoloader that simply
mounts the next tape in the next sequential slot.

As Scott suggested if you are using BRMS or Robot/Save, that would be the
wrong way to set it up, but if you want just a tape device that loads tapes
sequentially, that's how you do it.

We are also assuming that you have two tape adapters and the tape drives are
cabled to each of the adapters.

Our TS3100 is setup as two logical libraries (left side and right side).
Each is allocated to a partition.

We use BRMS so it picks out whatever tape it wants.

We have tape drive 3573 L2U on our new system. The tape drive has 2 drive
heads and 2 tape magazines. Our system sees it has 2 tape drives. Is there a
way to setup the tape drive so that all the slots on the left are for one
drive and the right side is for the other drive? Also to have it use the
tapes sequentially? We run multiple weekend saves and want the tape drive to
use the tapes in sequence.

Thanks,

Kent
