Yes, I just heard from the PC server guy the most the refresh (which
worked) can be set at is 1 minute. So that won't work for us.

It's too bad there isn't more affordable redaction on the fly software for
the IBM i (and of course affordable... even the PC stuff is pretty high
priced). The bottleneck we find of course is the PC. When there are 50
users redacting and once it crawls to a snails pace. CPUs cycles get eaten
exponentially on these PC servers.

We've done this kind of thing but never against a NetServer share.
Windows has features that allow your app to be automatically notified when
a new file appears, but in my experience they're not as reliable as the
good-old "timer and manually iterate thru the folder" approach.

Thanks, Richard.

It's a 3rd party redaction app running as a service on the PC.

Normally for other projects we used QNTC and it worked fine, but we wanted
to try something easier. The PC application guys are looking into what
they can do. I'm surprised it doesn't work though... their software
watches a directory for a new file to process. Apparently their app is
doing something odd or different to trigger the process when it sees a new
file (which, as mentioned, is a Netserver share on the IFS of the IBM i).
