Advanced Job Scheduler Messages to Monitor

We are working on a POC to automate a bunch of manual functions using IBM i Advanced Job Scheduler. Many of these jobs will be file transfer jobs and I'm experimenting with putting all the transfer commands into a job's 'Command List'. Since the commands I'm using don't return any severity over 00 even if an error occurs, I'm trying to use the function in AJS Command Properties called 'Messages to Monitor'. The description in the KC says:

Each command in the command list of a job can have message identifiers that are used for monitoring. When the job runs and an error message is issued that matches one of the messages entered for the selected command, the job logs the error but continues processing with the next command in the list.

I've coded a message number that gets generated from my commands, but I don't see where this 'Message Monitor' does anything.....

Is anybody using this feature and knows what it really does?
