I just tested relaying mail, sent from my IBM i server, relaying it through
smtp-relay.gmail.com, using TLS encryption, using a self-signed
certificate
created by the IBM i DCM, assigned to the IBM i SMTP client.


Of course it worked. The gmail relay doesn't require you to provide a
client side SSL certificate. So it was ignored.
