I do not directly use the tool, but I think we use between multiple DBs; mssql/oracle/db2 on linux/windows/i/aix

i have not heard of many issues with the product, i also cannot speak to how often they speak to support.

*Thanks* Rob, Bryan for the cost lowering tip - it sure had my ISV gaping.

Can you comment on the CDC tool itself?
1. How long do you use it?
2. What DBs/OS do you replicate to/from ?
3. Is it reliable, to what degree ?
4. When support is needed, do you go to IBM?

I'd be grateful if you let learn from your experience.

Thanks again
Gad

if you do use CDC(data mirror) and you have more than one CPU, to keep
your costs down use Workload Capping.
in a multi core(cpu) environment you can ?pin? the workload to only one
CPU.

Anyone using this tool?

I'd appreciate some pointers

True that. We use Mimix and we had to separate our Mimix lpars into their
own shared processor pool to keep license costs down. They have the
intelligence to support that and then know you are only using the CPU's
allowed.

Help Systems just doesn't have that kind of technical ability and they
will charge you for all the CPU's IBM i uses even if you are only running
their product on one lpar out of fear that you'll move CPU. They can't
seem to grasp this shared processor pool concept.
