Yes, you could use VIOS VSCSI to surface the storage to IBM i.
However, you would probably not like the results. The only disks
available in the EXP12SX are 7200 RPM with sizes of 4 or 8 TB.

I'm not sure I would consider these devices for anything other
than archive storage. If my memory isn't completely destroyed,
the last time IBM offered 7200 RPM drives for IBM i (really
OS/400 and I think the iSeries) was in the late 1990s.

For non-IBM i workloads, there is a need for large TB units and
the RPMs really don't matter because the data is sequential in
nature (streamed from storage to memory). These drives excel at
this type of workload. By contrast, most IBM i workloads have
small (less than 10KB) operations which are random. Large, slow
units do not handle this work well.
