I think in today's world using an email appliance like you're doing
for the actual message exchange is paramount to making sure stuff
exchanges cleanly.
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT Richard. It gives you trackability, ant-spam filtering,
anti-virus filtering, and a single point to troubleshoot. We do this with
low end Barracuda products and have loved them for that.
I am in these things almost daily looking up why this or that mail didn't
get to its destination. Mostly you get a nice message that's pretty clear
as to what's happening. You don't get that with IBM's SMTP for sure and
even if you have another tool like Brad's that only fixes the i, not all
the other stuff in your network that might need to send mail.

We got on one of the Blacklists several years back and it took several
days to clear it because mail appliances all check those before sending.
That was fun.
