But IBM has never said that a disk unit in a Power System that works for
one release would not work for the next release in that same system.
There have been a few where a particular load source disk size
requirement changed but the disk itself was still supported. AND you
couldn't start the upgrade if you didn't fix this first.
AND IBM's pre-req checks tell you when you have things that are not
supported. I can recall the QIC-13GB "Wheel Chock" as a tape drive that
fell out of support in early V5 days and there have been a couple other
cards (a particular quad modem comes to mind) but never cratering your
entire disk!
