Upgrades from i 7.1 to 7.2 or .3 break the Zend server if you don't modify two files. The include directive fails now when it finds nothing and needs to be replaced with conditionalinclude. Note that it's not really zend that's broken it's the Apache bit but still the Zend web Server won't start.

Pete,

Curious, why did you mention Zend Server.
Anything change/not supported, etc.

If you are one back on PTFs, you should be good. As long as all the preparation PTFs have been installed no problem.

Check your other things like Expanding License Internal Code, size of load source disk, WebSphere versions, Java Versions (Use the WRKJVMJOB command), Domino, Zend Server. To name a few.

Subject: i5/OS PTF philophy when planning an OS upgrade.

I'm finalizing my V7R1 to V7R2 upgrade plans.
V7R2 image catalog built for sandbox LPAR.

My V7R1 Production and R&D LPARs are back 6 months on PTFs, 1 back on latest CUM.
In that past, the practice was to "get current on PTFs" before doing the OS upgrade.

Is this still true and necessary?

I'd rather spend the time on the V7R2 upgrade, holding off applying and testing the V7R1 PTFs.

Thank You
