A little clarification, the Update Access Key is included with the
hardware warranty and/or IBM hardware maintenance contract. You are
eligible for any firmware updates which were published before your
warranty/maintenance expired. My understanding is once under HW
maintenance the keys will expire every 180 days but are only needed when
you are upgrading firmware.

Put another way, the FSP code now has its own software maintenance
agreement
as of Power8. You'll need to get that agreement updated and
potentially pay
for the support.

So you need 3 agreements now: 1) software support for IBM i , 2)
hardware
maintenance, and 3) FSP microcode.

It means that after that date you will no longer be able to update your
firmware.

That is unless your business partner sells you the appropriate key to
extend
that date.

It's a bad day when I have to launch ASMI. While in there I am

What does this mean?
