In my area there are a couple of organizations (one is the community college
computer club) that accept donations of old equipment as a fund raiser (each
org does this about 1x a year). Some of these events will accept a variety
of old equipment (TVs, Radios, etc.) I talked with one of the guys from
company running the actual program and he indicated that they pull out what
they can for recycling and scrap the rest.

We also have a county wide collection for all kinds of old hazardess waste
(from paint to florescent bulbs to computer equipment). There is a small fee
for some things (e.g. CRTs). But most stuff is free. Run by the county. I
don't know how wide spread it is in other communities.

In Grand Rapids, Michigan there was (last I knew) an organization that
collected old computer equipment, refurbished it and gave it to
underprivileged around the world, but I think that they mostly are looking
for PC type equipment. Name of the organization escapes me at the present.

Hey all,

I have an old as400 (I think we called in an iseries about that time, I'd
like to get rid of.

Not sure what year or model. It hasn't been started in over 10 years and
it's probably 5 years older than that. It was gifted to me back when I had
ambition by one of my clients when they replaced it.

Where can one safely dump this thing for the least possible cost?

tia. Rick.
