IBM certainly has cloud for IBM i but it's part of an overall services
contract where they take over the entire or large portion of the data
center. Think two commas worth of contract per year over 10 years.
Most of the large partners have cloud offerings and of course Larry/Pete
have one too. There are other options out there that would be far more
economical than IBM. I'll bet once you do the math, the costs are going to
be about the same for on premise as cloud based, with cloud being slightly
lower in the first three years, then over 5 years being the more expensive
option. At least it's worked out that way every time I do a study for
customers. The differences come into play when administration services are
included in the deal. Then the pendulum tends to swing into the clouds
favor.

Subject: Cloud for IBM i?
Hello all,
I've been tasked for looking into some options for Cloud and
my favorite platform. We met the other day with IBM, who told me that
although they have options for AIX, nada for the 'I'. Some 3rd party
solutions, but nothing from IBM. Is anyone aware if IBM has any intention
of offering anything in the future for us?
Is there any demand for this from our user community?
Thanks, Larry
