We too started journalling due to HA replication. I fought to get it
started long before then but it was postponed until we had to.

We are also doing "journal scraping" until we can do temporal tables. In
our case we retain our receivers for 80 days. Consequently the size taken
up by our journals is HUGE. 2.3TB huge. About 4 times the size of our
biggest file library
% of Size in
Library Owner Disk 1000 bytes
#MXJRN MIMIXOWN 41.23 2367006642.2
ERPLXF SSA 9.66 554522578.9

Why yes there is such an SQL service. It is called DISPLAY_JOURNAL. The
trick is getting the column ENTRY_DATA mapped against an external data
structure of the original table. At this time we aren't using it. Instead
they are using more RLA oriented techniques which involved DSPJRN to an
outfile. Did I mention that doing this DSPJRN scraping method often
pushes our disk over threshold? And we've no slouch of a system.
