It is possible to create your own web server shortner "service".
store them in a db2 file and use the IBM i apache web server to do the redirects for you.
Or to be inclusive, I'm sure there are node.js and/or python examples also.

Or build your own tiny URL using REDIRECT.
It requires you to build some 3 line txt files in the IFS using HTML REDIRECT.
We considered auto-generating thousands of these for pictures of product-ID#'s for internal staff.
But that way you are not relying on Tiny URL nor going outside the corporate envelope, etc.

Note that STRPCCMD has a limit not much more than 128 char.
That was a consideration to our work-around.

A workaround are URL shorteners like tinyurl and that ilk.

Hi All,

We are using ACS for displaying a regular green screen.

On the screen for customer info we are displaying the customer web site address making it a hotspot.
This website can sometimes be VERY long.

Is there a way to display something like CompanyWebsite.Com (making it a hotspot) but when the user clicks it the real hidden site actually gets used?

Thanks!!

IDK if there is someway with the polymorphic GUI to have buttons which end
up doing STRPCCMD. But, this may not be desirable as allowing remote
commands to execute on your PC seems to be one of those things auditors
are slapping the cones of silence on.
