Even GB is too large a unit of measure.
I prefer current:
Disk space:
System storage (in 1,000,000 bytes) . . . . . . . . . . : 558379
Rather than option 1:
Disk space:
System storage (in GB) . . . . . . . . . . : 558
or option 2:
Disk space:
System storage (in TB) . . . . . . . . . . : 0
OUTPUT(*PRINT)... LOL

Why do you not want a change?
At first I thought maybe you were "one of those" who uses that command to
OUTPUT(*PRINT) and then copies the spool file to disk instead of an API or using one of the DB2 for i Services. Then I checked and, even on
ASTLVL(*BASIC) it converts it from MB to GB when you go to spool file.
DSPSYSSTS OUTPUT(*PRINT) ASTLVL(*BASIC)
System ASP . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 23277 G
DSPSYSSTS OUTPUT(*) ASTLVL(*BASIC)System storage (in 1,000,000 bytes) . . . . . . . . . . : +++++++
I guess it might be different if it was the amount currently used. Perhaps then you could keep banging on refresh to see your other job sucking up disk. But it's total space on the system. Not used or available.
I don't imagine they would back PTF that to V5R4 or some such thing so if you have such smaller disk machines where MB might actually be greater than 0.005% of one disk drive you would still see MB.

This should be a user-configured option. I for one don't want a change,
but I can understand that people on larger systems could really use it.

I thought I had already submitted this RFE but I went ahead and submitted
it
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=98800
Basically DSPSYSSTS ASTLVL(*BASIC) still tries to show MB and systems with
10TB or larger have an issue with that.
Disk space:
System storage (in 1,000,000 bytes) . . . . . . . . . . : +++++++
System storage used . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 70.95%
Seems to work on those with less than 10TB Disk space:
System storage (in 1,000,000 bytes) . . . . . . . . . . : 3523315
System storage used . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 85.81%
I consider MB's to be a rounding error.
If you're so inclined to add your support...
