It would be the other way around if a customer could belong to multiple
groups. For example if Ford could be part of both the automotive group,
and the RV group. To do this would take three tables:

Customer: Key would be company# and customer #
Group: Key would be company # and Group #
CustomerGroup: Key would be company #, Group# and customer #

CustomerGroup would have two foreign keys
Foreign key 1 would be company# and customer# to Customer
Foreign key 2 would be company# and Group# to Group

This kind of stuff is no great leap. Much like one item number can be on
multiple orders, and one order can have multiple items is why there's
often an OrderLine file. The OrderLine file has a foreign key to the
OrderHeader file and a foreign key to the ItemMaster file.
