Wow, those benchmarks are old. Does SQL2XLS still use POI 2.x? In fact POI 3.16 was released just recently, though it will require some refactoring to make it work with Scotts header files, I suspect POI is much faster than it was back then. I know that there have been some speed fixes made in the interim. And you should be able to go all the way up to 3.14, or 3.15 with Scotts header files.
