I, too, keep hoping for that 'any day now'. There is some hope after the
cume on 2016-12-09. However, announcing it this late in the year, after
many people have budgeted already for next year, makes little sense. So
I've kind of lost faith of anything happening this quarter.

Why do I care since I'm already an all 7.3 shop? Because there are still
too many vendors clinging to old versions and the sooner they get upgraded
then maybe they'll actually start using newer features.
Example one: The recent vendor who just heard about 7.3 and asked the
list about it. Vendors should be actively participating in IBM Early
Programs. To me, them bragging they still support V5R3 is the kiss of
death.
Example two: Looked at another HA vendor who is advertising their
promotional webinar today (I think). I asked them if they support
Temporal Tables and their reply was "...does not support Temporal Tables
yet. It is on our roadmap for development, but we are unsure when that
will be implemented." I replied that I am not interested in yet another
vendor milking me like a cash cow and that, as a user of one of their
other products, I find their pricing by CPU to be a hard hurdle to get
over. I ended the conversation on that note. Lack of temporal table
support alone was enough to put them out of the running.
